The Story of Lucian

Lucian

4 months old

Lucian was found by the roadside in Leganes, Iloilo. His mother and siblings had been thrown there. We rescued him just in time as he tried to cross the road as a kitten barely 1 month old at the time. That was November 20, 2024.

He was a healthy kitten. Then, a week ago, he went missing around January 15, 2024. He somehow managed to find his way out of the gate in the middle of the night trying to follow Blaze, one of our small dogs. Being a handsome small kitten and white at that, one or some neighbourhood children picked him up and bullied him.

Look at the pictures. This is what humans did to him and this happens often in the Philippines in the provinces.

More about Lucian

Some people still eat cats as well while otherse use cats for their black magic or whatever entertain suits them. THIS IS THE ISLAND OF PANAY. I need the public to know this for the information of foreigners who wish to stay in this area of the Philippines. There is a lot to be done in educating people about animal cruelty.

Thank goodness we got him back because we made it very clear in the neighbourhood that Lucian was missing, that we wanted him back and that we were not going to stop looking for him until we found him.

Lucian was gone 2 nights. Then, someone dropped him off in front of our gate looking like what you see in some of the pictures.

Lucian had puncture wounds in the neck and head while he is blind in the right eye for now. If you think we are not cleaning him, you could not be any more wrong because we clean his face several times a day. Black liquid or discharge just keeps coming out. We do not know when it will stop. What we do know is he is a fighter and when we saw how he wagged or whipped his tail the day after we found him, we knew he was going to be okay.

We thank Dr Kayzer from Lapuz, Iloilo City who has been helpful with Lucian's recovery.

Update on Lucian

Little Lucian is going to recover. He is such a brave little boy. In the picture, one can see where he was poke in the eye by heartless children or teenagers from the neighbourhood.

How do we know they are from the neighbourhood? He was returned immediately and dropped off in front of our gate after we filed a report at the local barangay and news spreads quickly in such a neighbourhood.

No parent has brought his or her child to apologize. Mind you, many of the households have policemen or teachers in the family. Most of the families in the same neighbourhood are also related to one another either by blood or marriage. We are one family that is considered an outsider because we come from a neighbouring province and also do not speak the local dialect.

We clean him as much as we can but slowly as he might feel too sore with the excessive cleaning. Papa Garfield, one of our cats, has taken on the caregiver and father figure role by helping with cleaning Lucian and playing with him now and then.
